Sources: Vanderbilt adding ex-Vols lineman, former LSU assistant Jackson Lampley to staff (Featured)

Jackson Lampley is little more than a year removed from his playing career at the University of Tennessee, a multi-year tenure that included appearing in more than 50 career games and being a part of the Volunteers' run to the 2024 College Football Playoff.

Now, Lampley similarly is ascending the Southeastern Conference's coaching ladder.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Lampley has been hired onto Clark Lea's Vanderbilt Commodores staff as an assistant offensive line coach.

The move comes after Lampley spent the 2025 season at LSU, hired into the Tigers' program under former head coach Brian Kelly as an offensive intern for the Tigers in 2025.

Lampley, a Nashville native who starred in high school at Montgomery Bell Academy, where he became a national recruit, had spoken with multiple programs since the 2025 season ended.

But it's the opportunity at Vanderbilt and to work specifically with renowned Commodores offensive line coach Chris Klenakis as well as offensive tackles coach Jeff Nady, the former top O-line coach at South Dakota, that separated the Vanderbilt opportunity.

During his collegiate career, Lampley worked at all five positions along the offensive line.

In joining the Vanderbilt program, Lampley arrives on the heels of the Commodores' best regular season in modern-era college football. The program posted a 10-win regular season, routed Lampley's alma mater, Tennessee, in its regular-season finale and saw star quarterback Diego Pavia close as the Heisman Trophy runner-up.

A 2026 encore could be quite difficult for the Commodores.

In addition to replacing Pavia and star tight end Eli Stowers, Vanderbilt faces a brutally daunting 2026 schedule. The Commodores open at home Sept. 5 against Football Championship Subdivision program Austin Peay, already projected as a potential FCS Playoffs team and a program that returns all-conference quarterback Chris Parson under the third-year leadership of Jeff Faris.

Following that contest, the Commodores host Ryan Carty's Delaware Blue Hens as Delaware, coming off a bowl berth, continues its transition to Football Bowls Subdivision residency. The non-conference slate concludes with a game in Nashville against North Carolina State before the onset of the SEC's first-ever nine-game conference campaign.

Vanderbilt begins its SEC life on the road at Auburn on Sept. 26, followed by another road game at defending SEC Champion Georgia and home the ensuing week against College Football Playoff semifinalist Ole Miss.
