Sources: Jim Mora, Colorado State targeting ex-UCLA star (Featured)

Caleb Wilson had the best game of his collegiate playing career for a Jim Mora-coached team.

Now, Wilson could be reunited with Mora as coaching colleagues.

Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Mora is targeting Wilson to become the new wide receivers coach at Colorado State, where Mora Jr. took over after the 2025 season.

Currently the assistant wide receivers coach and an offensive quality control assistant at the University of Washington, Wilson starred at tight end for Mora for the first couple of years of his career with the UCLA Bruins.

It was during the 2017 season in which Wilson had a 15-catch, 203-yard game in UCLA's dramatic, 34-point come-from-behind win against Texas A&M. The win likely was the highlight of the season for Mora, who was relieved of his duties atop the Bruins program in late-November 2017.

Wilson played one more year at UCLA and then ventured into the NFL Draft. Originally a seventh-round selection by the Arizona Cardinals, Wilson logged time with the Arizona, Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles and then-Washington Redskins, as well as later the Washington Commanders, franchises before he transitioned into coaching.

Mora new Colorado State program found itself in need of a new wide receivers coach this month when Kashif Moore departed to join Matt Campbell's first-year Penn State Nittany Lions regime.

Colorado State is scheduled to open its 2026 season at home Sept. 5 against long-time border rival Wyoming.
