Landius Wilkerson's steady climb through the collegiate coaching ranks is taking a significant next rung on the career ladder.
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Wilkerson is departing the Tulane Green Wave to become the new defensive line coach for Ryan Silverfield's first-year University of Arkansas operation.
Wilkerson, who in recent years had been on Major Applewhite's University of South Alabama staff prior to his arrival at Tulane, replaces Marion Hobby at Arkansas. Hobby, a former Tennessee Vols star player and longtime collegiate assistant, exited Arkansas for a job in the NFL.
An East Tennessee native who coached in the prep ranks in the Volunteer State at McMinn County High School after a playing career at Alabama State, Wilkerson also has coached at NCAA Division III program Huntingdon (Alabama) as well as an extended run at Football Championship Subdivision program Chattanooga.
Arkansas hired Silverfield after the 2025 season to replace the fired Sam Pittman. Silverfield won 50 games atop the Memphis program as replacement to Mike Norvell.
The Razorbacks open their 2026 season Sept. 5 at home against FCS program North Alabama before an interesting intersectional matchup one week later at Utah.
