Sources: Valdosta State bringing back veteran coach for coordinator role (Featured)

Brice Carlson is headed back to South Georgia.

Multiple sources on Tuesday tell FootballScoop that Carlson is departing his post as the run game coordinator for Tremaine Jackson's Southwestern Athletic Conference Champion Prairie View A&M program to become offensive coordinator at NCAA Division II powerhouse Valdosta State.

It's a return to the program in deep south Georgia, where Carlson spent the 2024 season. Prior to his year working at Valdosta State, also working with the offensive line, Carlson had been at Football Championship Subdivision program West Georgia for multiple season as the Wolves' offensive line coach and running game coordinator.

He was at Valdosta State with Jackson, who guided that program to a berth in the 2024 NCAA D-II National Championship.

Carlson rejoins Valdosta State under the second-year leadership of Graham Craig, with whom Carlson previously worked at West Georgia.

A former player at Guilford College in North Craolina, Carlson also has coached at Mississippi Valley State and West Virginia State, among other stops.

Valdosta State advanced to the 2025 NCAA D-II Playoffs, where it lost to Albany State in the First Round. The Blazers have not yet released their 2026 schedule.
